Welcome to Innisfail
Innisfail is a colourful and interesting town situated on the North and South Johnstone Rivers. Framed by rich green landscape, it is an easy reach to the coastline's many beaches.
Innisfail is a prosperous city. Sugar cane, tea, bananas, pawpaws and other exotic tropical fruits are grown within the region and beautifully cover the surroundings. Aquaculture also plays an important part in the area's economy, ranging from prawns, barramundi and fresh crayfish to crocodile farming.
Here, you are sure to eat fresh!
Innisfail boasts remarkable heritage and Art-Deco buildings that make it a pleasure to stroll in the streets of the city. You will have interesting attractions to enjoy, such as the Australian Sugar Museum and near-by Paronella Park. The Chinese Temple and the Cane Cutters Memorial remind you that modern Australia was in no way built by the British alone. You can also drive to the near-by Palmerston National Park, where lush sugar plantations flow from the dense rainforest coastline to the thick jungles of the National Park. If you drive a bit further you will reach the stunning Milllaa Millaa waterfalls circuit.
Keen anglers will be satisfied by the great fishing spots along the rivers or can jump on a charter boat for game and reef fishing.
Innisfail is a very central point. Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands are just over an hour away by car; no wonder why so many visitors choose to make Innisfail their holiday base.
